According to stories, a sailor and his dog were saved after spending three months trapped in the Pacific Ocean and subsisting solely on raw fish and rainwater.

A storm damaged their boat and electronics a few weeks after 51-year-old Tim Shaddock and his dog Bella departed from La Paz, Mexico for French Polynesia, Shaddock told 9News. They were saved after their boat was spotted over the weekend by a helicopter travelling with a tuna trawler headed for Mexico.

Shaddock declared, "I went through a really trying adventure at sea. I've been alone at sea for a very long period, so all I need is some rest and nice food.

Shaddock claimed that in order to survive, he and his dog only ate raw fish and drank rainwater. He explained that having fishing gear and other survival supplies on him was helpful. He told 9News that he hid under his boat's canopy to avoid being sunburned.

"I'm just very grateful to the captain and the fishing outfit that helped save my life. I'm alive and to be honest, I didn't think I'd make it," Shaddock said, adding that he and his "wonderful" dog Bella are also doing fine.

Shaddock's vital signs were stable, and the doctor who attended to him aboard the trawler informed 9News that Shaddock was in excellent spirits. Once the trawler returns to Mexico, extra medical aid will be given to him. Also secure and unharmed is Bella.

According to the Associated Press, he claimed that the energy and exhaustion were the worst aspects of his time spent stuck. He continued by saying that he kept himself upbeat by working on stuff and enjoying the ocean.
