'I learned that Gustavo had died this morning when I got up. Abbew added, "My heart goes out to his family and friends. "Gustavo was ten years my junior. When a young person is taken from us too soon, it always makes us sad. Gustavo, may you rest in peace and know that we will miss you.
The supplement business Muscle Tech, which collaborated with Badell, also paid tribute to the former bodybuilder.
The company's account tweeted, "It was an honour to be represented by a man who was a consummate professional and one of the hardest working bodybuilders of his generation." "Today we honour Gustavo's legacy and the lives he touched."
The native of Venezuela, who began competing in bodybuilding competitions at the age of 19, eventually relocated to Puerto Rico in his early 20s and won the Junior Caribbean Bodybuilding Championship in 1991.
The largest competitions in the sport, such as the Arnold Classic, World Pro Championships, Ironman Pro, and the Atlantic City Pro, which Badell won, were later entered by him.
In 2002, his first Mr. Olympia competition, he came in just 24th place, but in 2004 and 2005, when he placed third behind Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler (not the football player), he was much more spectacular.
